The commemorative jersey of the tenth edition of Granfondo Briko Torino has been officially presented. The international event is fast approaching: Sunday 11 May, in fact, the city of Turin will dress up to welcome the many cyclists who decide to pedal in what was the first capital of Italy. A challenging route, even if it does not have very long climbs, awaits the cyclists: 115.7 kilometers to tackle, with start and finish inside the Motovelodromo “Fausto Coppi”. As per the rules, participants in the tenth Granfondo Internazionale Briko Torino will receive the commemorative jersey of the event that must be worn to access the grids and throughout the duration of the event. Those who do not wear the jersey will be disqualified.
For all those who finish the race, Briko, the main sponsor of the event, will provide a “finisher” medal, in memory of the feat accomplished in what promises to be a great day of sport and fun. The finisher medal will be made only of recycled material, in order to continue to keep an eye on green and recycling issues.
To make it clear how essential an event of this kind is for such a large city is Domenico Carretta, Councilor for Sport of the City of Turin: “The Granfondo Internazionale Briko Torino is not only a great sporting event, but also an opportunity to promote well-being and sustainable mobility. Cycling through the streets of our city means discovering its historical and landscape heritage in an active and conscious way. Furthermore, the Luca Ferrero Memorial reminds us how essential it is to guarantee the safety of those who use bicycles, so that our streets are safe places for everyone. The support of the City of Turin for events of this level confirms our commitment to promoting sport and the culture of road safety.”
Also Emiliano Borgna, head of Acsi Cycling, emphasizes the fact that this race is the only one left on the calendar, as far as it concerns mass cycling, which takes place in a large city: “The Granfondo Internazionale Briko Torino is the only mass cycling event held in a metropolitan city. This denotes great organizational complexity, but at the same time it involves a uniqueness that participants cannot help but perceive. You ride in one of the most scenically important cities in Italy, a unique event, and for this we can only thank Vittorio Mevio and the GS Alpi who have been organizing extraordinary events for amateur cyclists for years”.
You have until May 7 to register online and to join the “solidarity bib” initiative, created for those who want to make a donation to Cottolengo – Piccola Casa della Divina Provvidenza. Those who make a donation will start from the honor grid, located in front of the first grid, on the day of the race.
